BEACH VOLLEYBALL — October 24th just in time for Halloween, Manhattan Beach is hosting a ‘ghost-volleyball’ tourny. The quality of play is very impacted by the sheet hanging over the net, and costumes. Its a ton of fun to both play and watch. Details and sign-up info

SOCCER — With leagues playing every night of the week in beach locales from Manhattan Beach to Santa Monica, South Bay Sports has organized games for most levels of soccer. KICKBALL — Get over your recurring recess/wedgie nightmares by signing up for the World Adult Kickball Association (WAKA). The “Jewel City” league, not named for the Alaskan singer/”poet”/snaggletooth, is currently open for registrations; it plays on Wednesday nights at the Eagle Rock Community Center.
